Pool Chemicals

A variety of pool chemicals are required to keep the pool in safe usable condition. An untreated or improperly treated pool can damage pool equipment as well as causing skin and eye irritation. Even worse, an untreated pool is an ideal environment for dangerous bacteria to thrive and spread from person to person. However pool disinfecting is easily done and the most common chemical used for pool cleaning is pool chlorine. When chlorine is added to water it forms Hypochlorous acid which kills bacteria. Additionally pool water needs to be maintained at the correct pH level. The recommended pH level should be between 7.2 and 7.8. The pH level of the pool is easily adjusted by adding pH increase of pH decrease pool chemicals as required. Maintaining a correct pH level prevents pool equipment corrosion, water cloudiness and skin irritation. A correct pH level also enables the chlorine to more thoroughly disinfect the pool so to have a nicely maintained pool year round always keep your chlorine and pH levels within the recommended levels for a swimming pool.
